How to Keep Your ChatGPT Conversations Private

Method 1: Use Temporary Chat

Temporary Chat helps protect your privacy by keeping the conversation out of your chat history. Memories will not be used or created during the conversation.

1. Click “ChatGPT” in the top-left corner.

2. Select “Temporary Chat” from the options.

3. Review the notice, then confirm.

4. You can now start a private conversation that will not appear in your chat history

Method 2: Save a Conversation with a Shared Link

If you want to keep a record of a conversation, you can create a shared link.

1. Click the three dots next to the chat.

2. Select “Share” from the menu.

3. In the sharing window, click “Create link.” Use the link to save or access the conversation later.
